Lost your care key, snapped it, or just need a spare, we can help. We can cut and program a key for your vehicle a lot cheaper than the dealer can.
Every car from 1996 onwards, has an ignition key with a transponder 'chip' inside it. This technology was introduced to prevent 'hot wiring' cars. Basically, when the chip in the key is nesr the ignition barrel, the ECU reads the codes in the chip and allows the engine to start. Without the transponder in the key, the car is immobilised. If you lose your key and have no spare, you will need a new chip programming to the ECU in order to start the car. In most cases, it is cheaper and easier to supply a spare 'copied' key from an already programmed one, than it is to replace a lost one.
